2008 King George Chase Result

Kauto Star, ridden by Ruby Walsh, equaled Desert Orchids record when he won his third successive King George Chase with an outstanding round of jumping at Kempton Park on Boxing Day.

The 2007 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner was sent off the 10-11 odds on favourite for champion trainer Paul Nicholls and he did not disappoint te punters when he came home eight lengths clear of 25-1 outsider Albertas Run, ridden by Tony McCoy, with the Alan King trained Voy Por Ustedes in third.

Kauto Star, whose career prize money now totals over 1.5 million pounds, cruised to the front turning into the straight and the result was never in doubt despite the eight-year-old rapping the final fence.

It was a sweet victory in this mid-winter NH season highlight and provided the perfect answer to those who believed Kauto Star was past his best following defeat in the 2008 Gold Cup by stable mate Denman and by his fall at the last in the Betfair Chase in November.
